HopOn is a stable management app. Barns use it to plan the day, track horse care, communicate with their team and their clients, and bill for the work they do. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what you can do about it.
The short version. We collect what the app needs to run and nothing we can sell. We do not sell personal data, ever. We do not use your data to train advertising models. The current beta does not collect card or bank details. You can delete your account from inside the app, and your data goes with it.
1. Who we are
StableSense, Inc., a Delaware corporation doing business as HopOn, is the controller of the data described here. You can reach us at privacy@hopon.horse.
When a stable uses HopOn to manage records about its own clients, staff and horses, the stable decides what to enter and why. In that role the stable is the controller of that content and HopOn acts as its processor. If you are a client or an employee of a stable and want your records changed or removed, ask the stable first. We will help them do it.
2. What we collect
| Category | What it covers |
|---|---|
| Account | Name, email address, phone number if you give one, password or the identifier from Sign in with Apple or Google, your role in the stable, preferred language. |
| Stable content | Horses and their details, health and farrier records, feed and care routines, daily tasks, lessons and calendar events, boarding plans and prices, notes, photos you upload. |
| People in a stable | Names and contact details of staff and clients, entered by the stable. Clients may add their own contact details when they accept an invitation. |
| Billing | Invoice lines, amounts, service details and payment status entered by a stable. The current beta does not collect card or bank details. |
| Device and usage | Device type and operating system, app version, language, push notification token, crash reports, and aggregate usage counts such as screens opened and features used. |
| Support | Anything you send us by email or in a support conversation. |
We do not collect precise location. We do not use tracking cookies for advertising. We do not buy personal data from third parties.
3. Why we use it
- To run the service: show the right data to the right person, send the day's plan, translate tasks into a team member's language, generate invoices, process payments.
- To keep it working: diagnose crashes, fix bugs, measure whether a feature is used.
- To communicate with you: service notifications, replies to your questions, and occasional product updates you can turn off.
- To keep it safe and lawful: prevent abuse, comply with tax, accounting and legal obligations.
Where the GDPR applies, our legal bases are the performance of our contract with you, our legitimate interest in operating and improving a secure service, your consent where we ask for it (push notifications, marketing email), and compliance with legal obligations.
4. Who we share it with
We share personal data only with service providers who help us run HopOn, and only what they need:
- Hosting and infrastructure providers, to store and serve the data.
- Push notification services operated by Apple and Google, to deliver notifications to your device.
- Analytics and crash reporting, in a form that identifies a device or an account, not a horse or a client record.
We also share data with people inside your own stable, according to the role its owner assigns you. A groom sees the tasks assigned to the team. A client sees their own horses and their own invoices. Stables can change these roles at any time.
We may disclose data if the law requires it, or to protect our rights or the safety of a person or a horse. If HopOn is acquired or merges with another company, data may transfer as part of that transaction, and we will tell you before it does.
We do not sell personal data and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.
5. Where your data lives
HopOn operates in the United States and stores data with providers in the United States and the European Union. If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, transfers outside your region rely on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
6. How long we keep it
- Your account: while it is active, and for 30 days after deletion so it can be restored if the deletion was a mistake.
- Stable content: for as long as the stable keeps its account, and for 90 days after it closes.
- Invoices and payment records: up to 7 years, because tax and accounting law requires it.
- Crash and usage data: up to 24 months.
7. Deleting your account
You can delete your account from inside the app. Open the menu, go to My account, then Delete my account. The app asks you to confirm, then removes your profile, your personal details and your login.
If you own a stable, deleting your account also deletes the stable and everything in it, including horses, records and invoices. The app warns you before you confirm. Records we must keep for tax or accounting reasons are retained for the period set out above and are not used for anything else.
You can also write to privacy@hopon.horse and we will do it for you within 30 days.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you can ask us to give you a copy of your data, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to how we use it, or send it to another service. You can withdraw consent at any time, which does not affect what we did before you withdrew it.
If you are in California, you have the right to know what we collect, to delete it, to correct it, and not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights. We do not sell your data, so there is nothing to opt out of, but you may still make the request.
Write to privacy@hopon.horse. We answer within 30 days. If you are in the EEA or the UK and you think we got it wrong, you may complain to your local data protection authority.
9. Security
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Access to production systems is restricted to the people who need it. We keep audit logs. No system is perfectly secure, and we will tell you and the relevant authority without undue delay if a breach affects your data.
10. Children
HopOn is built for stables and is not directed at children under 13. A stable may record a young rider as a client, in which case the stable is responsible for having the parent's or guardian's permission, and the parent's email is normally the one on file for billing. If you believe a child under 13 has created their own account, write to us and we will remove it.
11. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will tell you in the app or by email before the change takes effect. The date at the top always shows the current version.
